Eve Wersocki Morris

Biography

Eve acted in Tread Softly and Innocent Infidelity in her first year before turning to writing and directing. She wrote and directed Accidental Loss of a Baby for the 2012 UNCUT season, went on to direct The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband and Little Red, reviewed for the theatre, and stage managed the 2014 external production of Krapp’s Last Tape.

Diagnosed with dyslexia at twelve, she had finished her first full-length novel by thirteen. She is now a bestselling children’s author, writing mystery, suspense and adventure. Her debut The Bird Singer (2022), inspired by her Polish ancestry, was a Sunday Times Book of the Week and was nominated for the Branford Boase Award. The Wildstorm Curse was an Independent Bookshops Bestseller and featured in The Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge 2024. Lemony Snicket has said he is “tired of Eve Wersocki Morris being the best-kept secret in children’s literature”.

She has appeared at Bath Children’s Book Festival, Barnes Children’s Literature Festival and Wigtown Book Festival, chaired the judging panel for Wimbledon BookFest’s Junior Young Writers’ Competition in 2024, and volunteered as a reading helper with the literacy charity Coram Beanstalk. Her writing has also appeared in BookTrust, Stylist and the Times Literary Supplement. She lives in London.
