In Absentia Amo Te

29 April–1 May 1998

Billed as “a modern love story” and as the first production of the summer term. A New Theatre and Pounds, Dollars & Cents production.

The play runs across five acts, set in mid-October, late November, early December, late January and — for the epilogue — mid-September.

From the author’s note in the programme: “It is a concept so entirely new, to fall in love with people you know only as a collection of pixels on a screen… But this, though, is ‘the new face of love’: two people, two screens, and thousands of miles in between them; across a crowded Internet, not a crowded room.”

Thanks in the programme go to Stu Scott and Phil Andrews for helping with the set, “Superchef” Mungo Stenning for the pizza, Tom Hayton of Revolver magazine, and Adam Guest removal services.
